Sūra 104: Humaza, or the Scandal-monger

Verses 9 — Makki; Revealed at Mecca — Sections 1

١- وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ
1. Woe to every (Kind of) scandal-monger And backbiter,
٢- الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ
2. Who pileth up wealth And layeth it by,
٣- يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ
3. Thinking that his wealth Would make him last For ever !
٤- كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ
4. By no means ! He will Be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces.
٥- وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ
5. And what will explain To thee That which Breaks To Pieces?
٦- نَارُ اللَّـهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ
6. (It is) the Fire Of (the Wrath of) God Kindled (to a blaze),
٧- الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ
7. The which doth mount (Right) to the Hearts :
٨- إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ
8. It shall be made Into a vault over them,
٩- فِي عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍ
9. In columns outstretched.
