Verses 36 — Makki; Revealed at Mecca — Sections 1
١- وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ ◯
1. Woe to those That deal in fraud,—
٢- الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ ◯
2. Those who when they Have to receive by measure From men, exact full measure,
٣- وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ ◯
3. But when they have To give by measure Or weight to men, Give less than due.
٤- أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُولَـٰئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ ◯
4. Do they not think That they will be called To account ?—
٥- لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ◯
5. On a Mighty Day,
٦- يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ◯
6. A Day when (all) mankind Will stand before The Lord of the Worlds ?
٧- كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٍ. ◯
7. Nay ! Surely the Record Of the Wicked is (Preserved) in Sijjīn.
٨- وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ ◯
8. And what will explain To thee what Sijjīn is?
٩- كِتَابٌ مَّرْقُومٌ ◯
9. (There is) a Register (Fully) inscribed.
١٠- وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ◯
10. Woe, that Day, to those That deny—
١١- الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ ◯
11. Those that deny The Day of Judgment.
١٢- وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ ◯
12. And none can deny it But the Transgressor Beyond bounds, The Sinner !
١٣- إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ ◯
13. When Our Signs are rehearsed To him, he says, “Tales of the Ancients !”
١٤- كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ ◯
14. By no means ! But on their hearts Is the stain of the (ill) Which they do !
١٥- كَلَّا إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ ◯
15. Verily, from (the Light Of) their Lord, that Day, Will they be veiled.
١٦- ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُو الْجَحِيمِ ◯
16. Further, they will enter The Fire of Hell.
١٧- ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا الَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ ◯
17. Further, it will be said To them : “This is The (reality) which ye Rejected as false !”
١٨- كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ ◯
18. Nay, verily the Record Of the Righteous is (Preserved) in ’Illīyīn.
١٩- وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ ◯
19. And what will explain To thee what ’Illīyīn. is?
٢٠- كِتَابٌ مَّرْقُومٌ ◯
20. (There is) a Register (Fully) inscribed,
٢١- يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ◯
21. To which bear witness Those Nearest (to God).
٢٢- إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ ◯
22. Truly the Righteous Will be in Bliss :
٢٣- عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ ◯
23. On Thrones (of Dignity) Will they command a sight (Of all things) :
٢٤- تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ ◯
24. Thou wilt recognize In their Faces The beaming brightness of Bliss.
٢٥- يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ ◯
25. Their thirst will be slaked With Pure Wine sealed :
٢٦- خِتَامُهُ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُونَ ◯
26. The seal thereof will be Musk : and for this Let those aspire, Who have aspirations :
٢٧- وَمِزَاجُهُ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ ◯
27. With it will be (given) A mixture of Tasnīm :
٢٨- عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ◯
28. A spring, from (the waters) Whereof drink Those Nearest to God.
٢٩- إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا كَانُوا مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَضْحَكُونَ ◯
29. Those in sin used To laugh at those who believed,
٣٠- وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ ◯
30. And whenever they passed By them, used to wink At each other (in mockery) ;
٣١- وَإِذَا انقَلَبُوا إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِمُ انقَلَبُوا فَكِهِينَ ◯
31. And when they returned To their own people, They would return jesting ;
٣٢- وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّ هَـٰؤُلَاءِ لَضَالُّونَ ◯
32. And whenever they saw them, They would say, “Behold ! These are the people Truly astray !”
٣٣- وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظِينَ ◯
33. But they had not been Sent as Keepers over them !
٣٤- فَالْيَوْمَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ ◯
34. But on this Day The Believers will laugh At the Unbelievers :
٣٥- عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ ◯
35. On Thrones (of Dignity) They will command (a sight) (Of all things).
٣٦- هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ ◯
36. Will not the Unbelievers Have been paid back For what they did ?
